I applied to an online program

I've been looking for over a year. Part of the problem is that I can't decide what I want to do when I grow up. I just know I want something that will open some more doors for me.

This is it. http://www.online.uillinois.edu/catalog/ProgramDetail.asp?ProgramID=291

I'll just wait to hear. I do have a backup program in mind too. It's a traditional program that I can complete in the summers.

Hey Bitsy -- this is a great program!! They've been around a while doing online stuff and have a great reputation! Let me know as soon as you hear something. And if you decide this is not what you want -- I've got some good online resources -- you don't want to be stuck having to go to class. I mean, shoot, you can't wear your pjs to class for goodness sake!!

Online learning

Hi Bitsy,
I read your post and wanted to quickly send you a message - I work with a wonderful company that provides online collaboration applications - you may want to try and contact them as they are always looking for teachers - go to the site www.Elluminate.com and all the contact details are there!
My name is Raylene, I have a Florida based company that provides computer assisted audio learning solutions for the academic sector!
I provide foreign language labs, ESOL labs, reading labs ... oh the list goes on and on... oh, and online learning applications!
Basically the software programs that I have can be manipulated in a variety of ways to suit the teaching of that particular teacher!
If I can help anyone with any further information please do contact me.
Please e mail me at Raylene@vistasolutions.org
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

alright, I'm beginning to wonder if this will ever work out.

one of my transcripts got lost -- seriously lost and I had to ask for another to be sent. No summer school for me now.

Then UIL said they wanted transcripts from two schools that I took three correspondence courses from (they appeared on my undergrad transcript). The problem was that one of the schools they listed I hadn't attended -- took two weeks to get that off. One of the transcripts arrived here at the house this weekend. I did look at the letter and it clearly had UIL's name and address on it.

Now it appears my online application has disappeared.

*sigh*

Sorry to hear about the stuff getting lost. I've had the same thing happen with online apps, faxed and snail mailed transcript requests, and even with job interview apps online and through the mail

Nothing is 100%. I finally contacted all of my previous institutions and ordered 10 copies each of official sealed transcripts to be mailed to me. Now when I have to send transcripts for jobs or like for my doctoral program, there's no waiting. I just take one each of the sealed transcripts and stick them all in a manilla envelope and send off. MUCH faster that way and nothing gets lost -- I even get a signed return receipt so I KNOW it got there! The people who are in charge of sending out transcripts are not real reliable most of the time. For one school, I sent the request (and payment) via snail mail and they never got it. So I had to do the same thing over the phone (bless them -- they DID make an exception and take the order and a CC# over the phone). That check never did turn up anywhere. At another school, I sent the request and payment, and they sent the transcript out but the school never got it. So now I keep a bunch of sealed official transcripts on hand all the time. When I get down to two left, I order ten more from each of those places LOL

Just a tip that is especially helpful if you have a bazillion undergrad and grad courses at different places along with your degree transcripts. I think I have something like 12 different transcripts here

These things happen unfortunately. About the online app not going through (or getting lost) -- It's all a part of technology -- wonderful though it is MOST of the time, those glitches are sure aggravating!!

What's really bad is when they lose your payment!! I've had that happen too and had to produce a copy of my credit card statement to prove I'd paid the application fee (not where I am now but another place two years ago).

Good luck and know you're not alone -- we all have a love/hate relationship with technology
