BCL, what exactly is Distrubited Learning?
I teach 2 classes each per day of 3rd, 4th and 5th grades (Reading Specialist).
Is your 4/5 a combined grades classroom?
Yep-- five posts to my name, I haven't even attached an avatar, and I've already asked to be *Elevated* to moderator status! Sheesh...what an ego!
But seriously! Welcome to my new hang-out, and while I have never moderated an online forum before, I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
To just Re-Introduce myself, I currently teach grade 4/5 in a face-to- face (I hesitate to use the word *normal*) classroom, and am 1 course and 1 Major Project away from an MA in Distributed Learning.
I'm looking forward to seeing where my learning takes me....
Other important info: I work on a Mac....I just bought a G5, in fact, and always like hearing from other macmacs.
Looking forward to this latest adventure!
Lisa

Ha! Thanks for your post-- even though you haven't seen the error of your PC-ways!Originally Posted by kds
Distributed Learning is a kind of vague-sounding term for an umbrella of learning situations. DL refers to any situation where the learner and the instructor are separated by time or space. It actually covers all forms of what we used to call "Correspondence" and "Distance" Ed., though in most people's minds it does mainly refer to online instruction.
DL includes, besides online, teleconferencing, videoconferencing, virtual classrooms, listserve/email type correspondence....etc.
My current job (which I'm hoping changes after I'm done my degree) is a *regular* classroom, split grade, or multigrade-- whatever the term du jour is. I have 30 of them, in any event, and teach all subjects, but for music.
thanks for the note! and answering the poll (-:

Congratulations!
The online forun will not be boring with you as the moderator, of that I am certain! I am not sure about how well moderate goes with BSL, though. You are not always middle of the road, and that is a good thing.![]()
