    Children with problems

    HELP!
I have a child whom has never been in preschool. He seems to have a connection problem. He cannot focus, hold scissors or pencil, markers, etc correctly. Cannot cut, write or draw pictures. He does not use his fingers as individual digets but all together. Boy of older parents no other siblings. What can i do to help his parents understand how behind he is. His gross and fine motorskills are not up to his age level. Any suggestions? Thanks!

No answers, but here's where I would start:

    1. Schedule a meeting with parents to discuss the problem and collect background.

    2. Schedule a school "student study team" meeting, or whatever the equivalent is at your school. Bring the problem to the team.

    3. Get some suggestions for exercises, activities, etc. that will help develop the fine motor skills from the resource teacher, school psych, or adaptive pe people.

Thanks! I just had a conference with parents and decided to hold off testing until after Christmas break. Background info was informative, child has never done anything like this, no scissors, no glue etc. was aloud. So gonna keep working with him and at home and hopefully he will come around!

    Thanks again!
