    Leveled Math Fact Tests

As much as I would love to avoid the "old school" approach to teaching math facts, I feel like my students need to have repeated exposure to the facts. Our school has "flashmasters," which are hand-held devices that test the students on math facts according to their level. Unfortunately, the results are not proving beneficial. So, my second grade team has decided to test the kids weekly using paper/pencil tests that are leveled. Level 1 is +1/-1 facts and so on. Once they pass one level, they move to the next. They go up to 9 since our students are expected to know facts up to 18. Does anyone have a resource to share that provides leveled practice of math facts? If so, PLEASE SHARE! Thanks!

    Mad Minutes.

It's a timed, leveled math facts drill. 60 seconds, score the total correct, and try to beat the score every day.

Give the pupils something to do, not something to learn; and the doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking; learning naturally results. -- John Dewey
