Thread: sadistic five year old

I have worked with children for many years. I have never come across such a mean child. This child is an absolute bully. She berates a child until they cry and the more the child cries, the bigger her smile grows. When scolded or punished, she smiles, unless something is taken away from her that she wants, then she stares at me with the "evil eye". She is as cold as ice. I don't know what to do to get this child to understand that her behavior is NOT okay. She harasses the same child daily. Everyday, children come to me upset, often in tears to tell me what she did to them. She is never physical, but her words hurt these kids deeply. I was bullied as a child to the point of not wanting to live and I hear all the time about young kids committing suicide or school shootings because of bullying. I want to stop this behavior before it causes something very serious. I know she's too young for school shooting issues now, but if she keeps this up as she grows older, I can see severe consequences. I just don't know what to do about this child. I have requested a conference with the parents. They have not set up a date yet.
