This looks good, though it's grade 5 and older:

We all know that children ( and adults) learn best by modeling / seeing works by others. I cannot find Halloween stories / poems written by elementary students on line. I wanted to print a few to show my special ed students to inspire them to become better writers. Any ideas ? Any sites to suggest ?

That was exactly what I was looking for, thank you. How did you find it? Do you know of any Halloween stories written by elem. students? I compiled a list of Halloween words to inspire the students I work with.
I searched for 'writing samples elementary'. I'm not finding writing samples on specific topic, but did find these prompts:Originally Posted by cat4554

Thank you for all your help. That latest site didn't have the exact writing sample just suggestions for story starters. I have tons of them. I searched all Friday night and yesterday am. I am going to read them a few Halloween stories and hopefully with the word box I put together we can brainstorm for a story. I tried attaching my Halloween words for you but it is " The extension doc is not allowed." If you would like a copy, email at cat4554@optonline.net and I will forward you a copy.
Have a good day. Mary Ann
I'm primarily a social studies teacher. I teach 1 unit of language arts, including writing. My students though are 'bright' to 'gifted.' For the most part I have trouble just keeping up with their ideas! 8)Originally Posted by cat4554

WOW!!! Lucky you. I am special ed and I do in class support 3rd & 4th grade. For the most part, even the non classified students are struggling learners. We might be lucky and have 1 or 2 bright students. Even since school started again, I feel so drained and say to myself, " can I do this til I am 66? " I am 55.
Hey, I'm 54 an when I said 'drained' I meant it. Though I will say it's easier to be enervated by the bright, than the not so. I will concede though, that I always begin with the lowest I think lesson and move up from there. I think it's important to individualize the lesson, which should be easier with your smaller group, than the 18 I'm dealing with.Originally Posted by cat4554
