One of the things I teach about in my history class is the gradual fracturing of Christianity- splitting into Orthodox and Catholic in 1054, the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s, etc. Not too hard for me to get at.... But in our public schools, religion is a bit of a touchy subject, since the government isn't supposed to favor any one religion over another.

It's not only about religion, but customs, as well. To favor 1 religion over another? Here, in Bulgaria, we don't have lessons in religion, but History.

Things are connected - you have a name John, and we-Ivan. But the root is probably Hebrew. The child may be named after its father, relatives, but sometimes it depends on the Church holiday, we celebrate
