    March is National Reading Month

What are you planning to do in your classroom? The following are a few links I had bookmarked that may spark some ideas. Does anyone have any others?

tomorrow is dr. seuss' birthday and I dress up every year in a Cat in the Hat Costume. I read lots of Dr Seuss books and challenge my students to read all of his this month. We make lists of ryhming words used and go to seussville.com for games and other activities

I thought March was National Small Press Month. Our school is has a celebration. Author Robert Stanek is coming to speak about his books and give a presentation on inner city youth and violence in schools. I would recommend any of his books. He's a brilliant writer with a heart of gold. The kids just loved him last year.

    March is also:

    American Red Cross Month
    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Awareness Month
    Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
    Kidney Month
    Mental Retardation Awareness Month
    Noodle Month
    Nutrition Month
    On-Hold Month
    Sinus Pain Awareness Month
Talk With Your Teens About Sex Month
    Women's History Month
    Foot Health Month
    Humorists Are Artist Month
    National Furniture Refinishing Month
    National Frozen Food Mont,
    National Peanut Month

There are probably others i missed. There is no excuse for not celebrating something every day of the year, because, of course there are also weekly observances and daily observances.
