I am in my first year teaching high school social studies
after teaching middle school for three years. I am
wondering if there anybody out there who can share ideas
with me so I can make my class more interesting to the high
school kids. I teach World History, US History, and
Government at Jemez Valley High School in Jemez, NM which
is a small high school and I am the whole social studies
department. Due to NCLB and other factors my time is
limited and prep time is not that great. I am looking for
somebody who is full of ideas that do not require a
tremendous amount of prep time or money since neither me or
the school has this. The books I use are The Americans by
McDougal Littel, Magruders American Government by Prentice
Hall and World History: Perspectives on the Past by
McDougal Littel (Heath). If anybody can help me out I
would be eternally thankful. My email is dderosa@jvps.org
or dmderosa2k@aol.com. Thank you.
