    teacher in training...

    Hello,

My name is Lesley McGibbon, and I am a second semester sophmore at the College of Saint Rose in Albany NY. I am majoring in English Secondary Education. I'm a bit nervous about starting to teach, although it's a while away. I have a strong love of reading but I know that I will have students who have an absolute aversion to it. I wish to be as prepared as I can possibly be when I begin teaching. Does anyone have any ideas or know of any resources where I can do some research on methods of teaching a high school English class that will keep students engaged and interested in literature? I'm also interested to hear how some of you manage to keep your classes interested.

Teachers Focus is a relatively new site. We haven't attracted a lot of secondary high school literature teachers and to make matters worse, we don't have a moderator for this forum.

This particular forum hasn't been showing a lot of activity - so you may want to repost this question in the New Teachers' Place where I know we have some first year secondary teachers.
