That sounds like fun! (Who gets the boys?)
I've requested to have an all-girls class next year. One of the things I plan to do is have a year-long author/novel study using Sharon Creech books. I already have three class sets of her books--Love That Dog, Ruby Holler, and Walk Two Moons. With some grant money I'm purchasing 5 copies of 6 additional Creech books.
Now I just hope that I don't get one of those "crazy" group of girls. If they don't bond with each other--and me--early in the year, we'll be doomed all year!

We have three language arts teachers on our team and we each get three sections. They usually gender group the math kids anyway, so I'll probably end up with a section of each that I swap with the math teacher. I need to put together my boys novel study, too, I suppose.

I am so jealous! I would love to teach a class that way. (I can only imagine the lack of whining from the girls about Hatchet, and vice versa from the boys about anything remotely resembling romance).
What ages do you teach? My guys absolutely loved Jack Gantos this year, and Gary Paulson, Holes, and anything nonfiction.
My kiddies are 7th graders.

I did the "Watsons Go to Birmingham" woth my sixth graders, and the boys just LOVED it because it is filled with stupid things boys do. LOL there is some objectionable language. Because I teach in a parochial school, I needed to get parents permission, first, but it was a good opportunity to discuss this.
