    very important! English/language arts

Does anyone have a really cool article, poem, etc. that will get 9th graders interested? A few things came to mind such as "Jabberwocky" but I am looking for a really good idea! Something else. I know there are some creative people out there. Please help. It can maybe illustrate something about literature in general or the power of words...

    Power of Words

The first thing that came to mind were some presidential (and other) MLK speeches that made such a strong impact on people that they are remembered today.

FDR: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself" instead of "Don't worry"

JFK: "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" instead of "You owe your country something"

MLK: "I have a dream" instead of "I hope" or "I want"
