The Au-pair - Alle Meine Kleider

What is an au-pair- that is a person who looks after children - usually abroad, as he/she wouldn't get something called pocket money, if at home.
I was such in Switzerland - for 2 months and 2 years ago, I think they saw I craved to live and didn't stay 6 months. But i got an idea of the situation to be in "joy and hardship"
Initially, i did not speak German, but I also found the family on Internet and said I knew Russian& English. I had references- of my experience with kids and character. God, my 2 children were sweet - the little one was 3 and sang often "Grun sind alle meine Kleider"/All my Dresses Are Green/ . She liked fairy tales, and the stuffed toy I gave her.
You must be between 18 and 30, single, and the family must give you free time for studying the language. But I realized the best way to study is just by writing. The stress is big when you don't meet anybody else.
Do you often meet children who want to acquaint with cultures by families? Some girls get married abroad by this.Well, for 2 months I didn't. Alle Meine Kleide is a song of boyfriends- irony of what the program is reckoned. Easy immigratiion or getting a slave,as it's a hard matter of what abroad is ?

I'm going to speculate that this must be one of those things much more common in Europe than in the US. Or it least, so it seems to this rather provincial American.

Nope, it's popular in USA either, but the conditions vary- you must have basic or thorough notion of the host country language. In USA - fluent or very good English is recommended
