Would like to teach JC level...Where to start?

If a new teacher asked me how to obtain a position at the high school or elementary level I would know exactly what to tell them to get their foot in the door. Apply with the board, visit the school, meet the secretary and the principal if possible. Make contact regarding substituting, etc...

Here's my issue...I'm interested in beginning to teach at the junior college level, but have no idea where to start. Suggestions?

My stint got started because I know somebody who knows somebody....probably would be a good idea to contact the head of the department at the school you want to teach at. Also, in my case, I offered to do something nobody else wanted to do- teach on Saturday morning. I'm really not sure there is a set way to go about this...

You could also call the HR dept. Some of them are very helpful.

thanks, it seems like a no brainer question but really not sure how to get foot in the door. just seems different than getting a HS position. submitting resume and app, hoping for the best.

I'm also interested in the class times most aren't interested in taking, it is just for extra and for the experience needed after I can't handle hs any longer.
