    Good Reaction

Today was my first day at work with my new hair style . . . AKA, my wig.

    "Boy your hair grows fast."

    "Did you get highlights?"

    "Are those extensions?"

    "You got your hair cut."

    "Wow, your hair is cool!"

    "You look younger."

"Your hair matches your outfit nicely."

    " That's not a wig is it?"

The teacher next door got his ear pierced, and none of the kids mentioned it. I told him that my hair stole his show. LOL

I also had a few kids pet my hair like I was a dog.

The funniest part is that several people didn't act like they knew anything was different.

I was kind of nervous, because you never know what middle school kids are going to say about things. These are, after all, the kids who told me I looked like I'd gained 40 pounds when I wore a baggy shirt to work.

LOL! I've found that just about anything I do with makeup/hair gets a positive reaction at school. The kids, especially the girls notice even new shoes! 8O

My regular hair color is, umm I really forget! But it used to have red highlights. Needed to color, quick and bought L'Oreal light brown. I got very, I mean very, red hair. Through blond color over that, ended up with just red/brown hair-very odd color.

The kids loved it! The parents kinda gawked, what could I do, two dye jobs in one day was more than enough. In a couple weeks, I'll get a professional to fix it.

My girls complain about my lack of interest in fashion. I dress in clean clothes that fit correctly, are in good repair, and appropriate AND comfortable for everything that I have to do between leaving the house and getting home.

That's not enough. They want me to color my hair so that I will look "younger." They don't get why a woman would let gray show. I covered the gray for about 15 years; age 20 - 35. Then I quit.

They want to take me "shopping." They want to see jewelry, makeup, and more effort to "style" my hair, rather than keeping it clean, trimmed, brushed, and neatly out of the way.

They are adolescent girls who are very concerned with fashion, lol.

I am a middle-aged woman who is concerned with health and character, and thinks that beauty is way more than fashion-deep. It's amazing that we get along as well as we do.
