It's like being on a different plain of existence....

I changed school districts and schools this year.

Those who have been coming here awhile know the story so I won't relate it again.

I will just say that having 6th grade, rather than 8th, in this new school and new county is almost surreal. 8) I had forgotten that children could still be like the ones I see in my classroom now.

Oh, they're far from perfect! To be sure! But the "issues" they have seem comical, by comparison with what I came from. A few love to shout out in class. One or two cannot seem to open their lockers and a few others do not seem to know how to remain in their seats. We do so much hands on science that that last thing is hardly an issue at all. They're a little noisy going to and from the cafeteria, but a simple word from me settles them down.

I have yet to see or even hear about a fight, verbal, physical, or otherwise.

Drugs? Well, we have some teachers who bring asprin or ibuprofen to school....for themselves! Other than that....

Could I be imagining this whole thing????

Great news, Billybob. It's not your imagination--you worked to make this real. 8)

Isn't it wonderful? I get low pay, but for the most part, this has been my situation for the 22 years I have been in middle school.
