    working on the ISN

So today was the first day we started to set up the ISN. We decorated our author page and number our TOC pages and the rest of the pages. For some reason I am just having a hard time getting going with this. I am not sure if it is nerves or what. The students aren't really grasping the concept either. I know it is going to take a lot of modeling on my part, something I have been doing for our Math notebooks. For those of you that use them, what is an example of your first activity? Do you have any other pages before you start with the lessons? Do you have anything you show your students that help to explain what you want? I found a powerpoint I might use.

Also here is another question...do you just give tests over the units or the chapters too?

I am sure there will be more once I really start putting all of this to practice. I have gone from website to website, but I am such a visual person...I need the actual ISN in front of me to really grasp the concept. But I am determined to use them this year!

I'm in the same boat as you  I'm new to ISN's and I just started them yesterday. It seems very foreign to my students, but I, too, am dedicated in making it a success.

Currently, I make them a model (Master Notebook) for them to follow, however, it's difficult not having a complete and finished ISN to show. I'm hoping that by continual modeling and reviewing of the ISN guidelines, my students will be able to grasp the concept more easily.

Thanks so much for the power point! The site you reposted asks for a password too. But thanks for the info!
