You have GOT to be kidding me!

I've been working on some things for school today, and one of the things I've done has been to put all the kids in a database and make seating charts.

I noticed something odd about one of my classes. I have 27 boys. Now, that's not the unusual part. Within those 27 boys, I have three Chase's, two Matthew's, three Ryan's, three Josh's, two Devin's, two Casey's, three Christopher's, and two Christian's.

You have GOT to be joking!

That's 27 kids with only 15 different names. Wow . . . I'll never learn who is who this year.

    Good luck!

Last year, I had two unusual class name phenomena. One class had duplicate names (most students shared a name with one other person). Another class comprised a majority of students who preferred to be called by a nickname as opposed to their given names.

In my summer job, I had twin girls who's first names both began with the letter "D". They didn't look identical, but they always sat next to one another. Six weeks with those kids and I still couldn't tell you which was which.
I've heard that four out of every three people have trouble with fractions.

    Have fun keeping that straight!
One year I had so many boys whose names started with J that when I got frazzled I'd call the kid J-Boy. It was a running joke the whole year. (I also must add to be politically correct, there were no African-American males in that class. I realize that caling any young black man "boy" would be insulting.)

Oh my goodness - how confusing.
I don't really like the kids with "normal" names - I can never seem to remember them. The ones with unusual names I always remember.
I guess their parent's weren't feeling particularly creative when they named them.
Suggestion: Put all the Chase's and Ryans etc on one table that way you can just refer to the table rather than any individual! heheheh. They could form an exclusive group! hehehehe
    Good luck.

The year when I taught high school, there were several (as in 5-7) freshmen who had identical first AND last names as some of the seniors... I had to triple check the roster before each class to be sure that I have the right roster in front of me.

However, the more difficult thing were names WITHIN the freshmen group. There was a set of identical first AND last names each in a different class group (one of them was a straight A and her namesake a straight F student and it always puzzled me when I was trying to enter the test grades into the gradebook). Then there were twins in different class groups with similar first names (I think Christina and Martina?) and nobody warned me! (I guess it is easier when you know you have twins).

And then there was my sophomore class where girls had a "domino" pattern of first and last names: girl1 had same last name as girl2 and first name like girl3, girl2 had the same first name as girl 4 etc. If similar but not identical last names (differing in 1-2 letters) were included, there were about 9 of them... and the only twins in that class were two boys who were easy to tell apart.

I've got a Damian and a Kane, too. I'm hoping they don't live up to those names. One year I had a Jesse James . . . and he sure lived up to his name.
