    About TEP Charter School
TEP aims to put into practice the central conclusion of a large body of research related to student achievement: teacher quality is the most important school-based factor in the academic success of students, particularly those from low-income families. In singling out teacher quality as the essential lever in educational reform, TEP is uniquely focused on attracting and retaining master teachers. To do so, TEP uses a three-pronged strategy that it terms the 3 R’s: Rigorous Qualifications, Redefined Expectations, & Revolutionary Compensation. Skim off the best teachers from the fields of math, science, the arts, social studies, the humanities and couple it with administrators who know what they are doing, and you've got a recipe for success. I don't think the model would be one the masses of the country could afford, however. There are too many children needing too much remediation because their parents expect the schools to fix all that ails their situations.

That is a very nice salary, that is not seen around here. This school sounds great, I think more schools should do more to make sure their teachers are quality. I hate to say this, but I have seen a few teachers that I think slipped through the cracks.

Teachers will be a reflection of the society they are a part of. There will always be less-than-perfect people in any occupation. I believe most teachers try to do their best, even the ones not deserving of the $125,000. price tag. Clearly, money won't guarantee whether a teacher is good or not. This charter school is trying to attract the best applicants and is finding the money to pay for the best.

I agree totally with CatherineT. Skim from the top. The best of the best - students and teachers and the success rate will probably be over the top.
In a perfect world, all students and teachers could go to this school. My world is a title I school with 2nd and 3rd generation poverty kids who have never been out of the county. They need to know their possibilites are not limited to their surroundings. Thanks to all the teachers who are down in these trenches with me.
