    Aspiring Teacher Writing a Paper

I am an aspiring educator that is currently enduring the rigors of the college seminar paper. I am writing it on the role of the teacher in society and why American society doesn't seem to value teachers as much as it does other professions. I am gathering information and having some trouble doing so. Can any suggest a usable book or film I should find? If anyone knows the email address of someone who has written on this topic that would also be greatly appreciated. I want to specify that I'm not being lazy and trying to shirk my duties here, I just want this paper to be good and I know that talking, as it were, to people in the field can't hurt. My thanks to any and all that can help. I hope to someday be among your ranks.
I want to be a teacher myself but first I have to pass these bloody classes!
