    Mid March Blues

    Is it just me, or is March a difficult month to get through? It seems so long, spring break is around the corner, and summer is almost here, but a little too far into the distance. Anyone else just get really tired and are ready for spring break about this time?

    Sure would be nice...but that's going to be a week or two into April. :cry: You'll be happy to know its not just you. We have had no days off for snow this winter and been going pretty much since January. No workdays, nothing, nada, zip, bupkis. Some of my friends sneer at me- mostly the ones who don't teach. "So? The rest of us work like that." Me: "Ok, you get a degree and you do it then, if it is so easy." Heheh. They'd get tired.....tired of the incredible drama that goes on between the kids, tired of the incessant whining, etc. Break? Soon? Hope so.

    Here's what happens to the kids when March arrives. . .

    * hormones go into overdrive
    * tempers flare
    * whining increases
    * work ethic decreases/disappears
    * goofiness increases

    And here's what happens to ME (and probably other teachers) in March. . .

    * the bottle of Maalox is a permanent feature on my desk
    * I visit the snack machine at least once per day
    * I dress for comfort
    * whining increases
    * work ethic (grading papers) goes lax
    * nerves are shot

    When we don't get any snow days, we go from MLK day until the first full week of April with NO breaks! We've not had many days this year, so it seems like we've been in school FOREVER!! I'm looking forward to spring break because I'm to the point where I don't even want to LOOK at some of my kids anymore.

    YES, I totally agree!

    I totally agree! I am a first year teacher and since we had so many snow days, we haven't had a break in a LONG while!
    Any suggestions on how to keep the kids in their seats? Or activities to keep them busy?
