I've been looking for options to teaching in Texas and have joined a number of teacher recruitment web sites including teachers-teachers.com, teachers @ work, and Teachingjobs.com.

Teaching jobs.com recently put me in touch with a company in the United Kingdom called Dream Education.

Dream Education is recruiting teachers - especially Canadians - to work in the United Kingdom.

In an e-mail interview with Louise Woodward, the Communications Manager for Dream Education, Ms. Woodward said that most teachers are placed in and around London. "Some schools are inner-city, others are on the outskirts." She then pointed out that the modern city of London was actually created over a period of time as different villages merged together. Given this historical background, Ms. Woodward said, "It is not uncommon for a school in the centre of the Newham area (very close to the city) to have the same atmosphere as a country school in Surrey. It all depends on the school's 'intake' of pupils, the staffing, resources, leadership and so on."

Ms. Woodward also said that Dream Education can place teachers in rural counties like Surrey or Kent.

Dream Education will begin recruiting teachers in April. The interviews will be held in Canada. I myself will be participating at an interview in Vancouver prior to going to a job fair in Oregon.

As an alternative to Dream Education, I have also found information about an organization called "Recruit Education Services"

Recruit Education Services says that they can place teachers throughout the United Kingdom.

They offer earnings from Canadian $186 or US$ 122 per day.
