First-year teachers can have a rough time of it, but most of them go on to be excellent teachers. Get to a school where you have supportive people who at least stay out of your way. This administrator is obviously trying to cover her hide. Don't let one or two years of teaching tears drive you out of your area.

It sounds like a case of being unlucky with a bad school. Hopefully your brush off won't affect your hiring elsewhere. I would definitely look into getting out of that area.

It sounds to me like the principal needs to be able to assign blame for her school's predicament, and she's selected you as a scapegoat. This is typical of principals. I found over the years that new assistant principals doing observations were always reluctant to mark down older, established teachers. Instead, they got their percentages of low scores from the new teachers with less clout who were more easily intimidated.
