Where's a good place to buy a teachers tote bag?

A couple friends birthdays are coming up and I need to find a gift for them. I'd like to buy them each a a nice tote bag. But I can't seem to find any nice ones, I'd think they'll like. They will be graduating soon too. So I'd like to locate them asap. I'm in charge of finding the tote bags, while the rest of their friends get them other things like: pen sets, file folders, mugs, etc.

The bags need to be heavy duty, because these two are hard on bags. These bags also need to have longer handles. Most bags I'm found have short ones. As for colors the basic white/beige bag with colored stripes would be ok. But I'd like to get them bags with alternate colors, or even designs on them. FYI these two are married so I'd like each bag to represent them individually.

If you know of a good place to get these tote bags please post here, and tell me about them.

When I'm feeling the need to be cute I use a bath and body beach tote that works well. It is blue striped and holds what I need for school. Most of the time I use a shoulder bag that my husband received at a conference. It has several front pockets. I love pockets to keep me orgnazed. Currently I am using an American Tourister laptop case. Works well. Pick up a simple tote at Target or an office store and have initials put on it if you want it personalized. You can find tote's anywhere...Target, Macy's McRaes, Internet, office supply stores. For me, it is usefulness over style. I need to have a place for everything and easy access.

A rolling crate might be even more useful. The longer you teach, the more conferences you attend and the more canvas tote bags you accumulate.

I've found nice bags at Staples, or other office supply stores. Also LL Bean and Lands End have nice tote bags.

I LOVE LL Bean's Boat and Tote bags. I am going to get my intern one when she leaves in May.

They come in lots of sizes, colors and styles. I am going to have our homeroom sign the bag.

    Timbuk2 bags are pretty cool.

A text book sales rep popped in unannounced today and handed me 2 tote bags. My wife has told me not to bring anymore home, as she no longer needs diaper bags. Which is about all they are good for.

:? Well these tote bags are a send off present. The gangs is going to load them up with all the other essentials a new teacher needs. So we like it to be a tote bag. How they use it later is up to them.

    Anymore places I could look?

Tote bags? Just go to anyplace where someone is trying to sell the school something. Or, to some workshops. School bookstores at colleges and universities come to mind.

Not a tote bag but I saw a teacher with something like this, and my mom uses one for here quilting supplies. You could totally fill this up.

^---- That's a bit too much for them.

It looks like L.L. Bean is the place to go.
