I haven't heard from him directly. But I have seen his posts on other boards all across the internet, just not under the name "Lev".

PS To Lev: I noticed some of those freaks on that one board finally admitted their purpose wasn't to have a discussion, but just to spout off, a circle jerk...just like I said.

He is around, but very busy-- I'll *nudge* him back in-- he is at year end, and (I don't think he would mind me saying) is moving as well (no, not to Canada). Last time we were chatting he made mention of TF and that he hasn't been by lately-- so he has not forgotten all you fine folks

    Lev

I was wondering the same thing myself; have missed him.

If anyone talks to Lev, I was in Atlanta with some cyberpals this week and several asked about him. Tell him he's missed by more than are asking on this thread!

    Well hiya.
Thats really nice of you guys to say this...Darn Bitsy- I wish I'd known. I'm planning to do some road travel towards the end of July
I've been working at Project Instar which is about teaching teachers about using science.
Later this week I start my job at the beach for the rest of the summer...I know- it really is going to be difficult. I don't know HOW I got so lucky but I'm grateful I did. Apparently I'm part of the team working with a group of 30 odd 5th graders for 20 days of summer school. We're teaching them science methods. I have some ideas, but I haven't formulated a lesson plan yet.
    Why I haven't been around...
I've been decompressing from school, it was a rough and not very successful year. The thoughts in my head related to education weren't entirely pleasant and I figured I'd spare you the experience. I'm planning to come back more often.
thanks again for the kind words...its nice to know that people say nice things about you when you aren't around.

    Hey Lev!

I hate that your year ended with your thoughts on the downside of education, but I completely understand. I've been in a funk over education myself.

I hope your 20 days with the 5th graders are successful. Sounds like a ton of fun

    Nice to see you!

Thanks Bitsy and Lisa. Instar finishes tomorrow and I start moving to my new place. I hate moving, but I'll have two weeks to do it and I figure I can get a lot out of here before I have to move the "bulky items".
Its the books that are making me weak in my knees- I must have a few tons of them.
The 5th graders sound like they'll be cool to have because they're at the point where they're like sponges and haven't ben ruined for science. Actually, the sponge analogy is wrong...we have sponges here and they're not that smart.

    So there you are.

A tough year, huh? Yeah. I had two of them right in a row.

Well....the second one turned out to be not so bad after I did something I should have done awhile back...I did some chemical intervention (my term); this isn't meant to be a commerical for zoloft, but life became so much more tolerable once I went on that. It made a difference for me.

You allude to a "change," a move of some kind? Are you moving to a new school?

The fifth graders will be a relief and a treat for you. They are usually still at the age where things "wow" them. :P As a 6th grade teacher, I can say that so very often, elementary kids come up to us with no knowledge of the processes of science or even what an "experiment" is. To too many of them, science consists of "reading the book and answer the questions." Elementary teachers have so much on their proverbial plate that I cannot really blame them for this. One of the reasons I do middle school is so that I do not have to "do it all" and can focus on one or two things.

Beginning next year, I will be focusing just on the sciences. Two thirds of the 6th graders in our school will be coming to me for science and I really need to have my ducks in a row.

Have fun with the fifth graders!
