Science Songs

I've mentioned it before in another thread, but there are a group of science teachers that got together to create science songs. Their band's name is the Banana Slug String Band. I have not heard all their songs, but they could have a song on the nitrogen cycle. I was able to purchase some of their tapes, and my students love them.

    Check www.tranquility.net/~scimusic/notochordsproducts.html for science songs.

In an effort to incorporate all the multiple intelligences in science education, I also use science poetry. There is an article on using science poetry (writing, reading, etc.) in Volume 1, Issue 2 of The Science Education Review ( www.flexi.net.au/~willdown/scedview.html ), and the article may be obtained as part of a free, introductory review copy of this new international periodical. Simply e-mail your request to willdown@flexi.net.au (no risk, no obligation).

The Science Education Review also publishes science poems written by students from around the world. These poems typically come from entries in various science poetry competitions, including The International Science Poetry Competition ( www.flexi.net.au/~willdown ) which debuts in 2003.
