No, ADHD is not anything near mental retardation nor is being on the Autism Spectrum. Learning Disabled is not mental retardation either but rather a disability that affects how they learn, not necessarily CAN they learn.
are ADHD, ASD and LD under the umbrella of mental retardation????????

ADHD is when you can not concentrate on just one thing and instead start doing everything else that comes, and the first thing gets unfinished. One of my students with ADHD gets all As on short assignments and has an IQ comparable to mine (which isOriginally Posted by Grascea

LD actually means that the kid is NOT mentally retarded, but can not produce answers comparable to his/her potential, due to some neurological or other problem not connected with intelligence. I think dyslexia is an example of this. My dyslexic student is using lectures on tape just like my sight-impaired students and he gets Bs on oral questioning.
The others have explained better than I can but I'm curious; why do you ask?Originally Posted by Grascea

thank you buddies for your replies. I've got a better understanding now. Here I have another question, when we talk about MENTAL RETARDATION, what are the classifications under it?![]()
