    Hello

    Hello,

I am new to this forum. I am a special education teacher in Northwest Illinois, and have 4th-6th grade students in my room. I love my district, and this is my 7th year there (8th year teaching). I subbed for six years prior to this when my two children were smaller. I have worked with the developmentally disabled for many years. I have two children; a son who is a senior in high school and a daughter who is a senior in college. We lucked out as they will graduate a week apart. My daughter is currently applying for high school math positions. My husband is a minister and got a call closer to my school. I love to read and cross stitch.

    Bananas,

Welcome to Teacher Focus! Thanks for telling us about yourself. Did you notice you are almost up to that magical 10 posts mark?

I have taught K - 12 grades. Teaching is a second (mmm maybe 3rd) career for me. I used to freelance and I was children's minister in a couple of churches. My boys are both grown. One is in seminary. Hubby is in sales.

You look too young to have two grown children, Bitsy!

Your other son must be a photographer with good touch-up skills. Seminary is very hard work! I always said we, rather than he, when hubby was going to seminary. Bet you are a proud mama of both boys!

LOL Bananas! Actually I started having children when I was still a child myself

Seminary is hard! Brandon sent me an email that said: I'm still alive. AND that was it! He is spending spring break in Tunisia taking a course on the early church. I'm sure he'll work like a dog during that week to get the 3 hours credit, but it sounds soooooo interesting!

When he went to seminary, we found out that if spouses worked on campus, tuition was reduced considerably. I glanced over at him and he said he wasn't going to get married for tuition assistance. Darn!

It's obvious that my hubby didn't go to the same seminary as your son if tuition was reduced with a spouse working on campus. I could not get a job there.

I was a mean spouse. I didn't work his freshman and sophomore year, so he worked 20 hours a week so I could be home with our sweet baby. I know this made things a lot harder on him, but he did it knowing how important it was to me. He also pointed out to me recently that I had done some childcare in our apartment and typed papers for a few other students. (I typed his free)

Of course he did- he's a man and that's what he's supposed to do. 8)
