    25 years

This 12/31, Ron and I will have been married 25 years.

In that 25 years, we experienced (in no particular order):

the death of three of our parents,
three major moves with lots of little ones in between,
    the birth of two sons,
me going to college and grad school,
the boys going to college and grad schools,
    all kinds of graduations,
    the death of Ron's brother,
    debt,
the loss of his 20 year job,
a couple of major depressions for me,
the addition of a new DIL come next May.

Well there has been lots of other stuff too -- the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thank goodness the good has been prolific.

We are going on a trip to celebrate. I don't know where as it's a surprise. I do know it's not Cancun because it was there and they cancelled our reservations due to Wilma.

At the start of this adventure, 25 years seemed like some distant event and here it is staring us down. I don't feel 25 years older and yet I look at my sons and know I must be. This is a good place to be in life.

I also know that your marriage is firmly grounded in Christ which has enabled the two of you to weather the stresses of life together. I know both of you appreciate and value each other strengths. You have both served as a wonderful example for your boys and a strong support for each other.

Congratulations and prayers that you will spend many more years together.

BTW: I think it is very romantic of Ron to take you away on a surprise trip.

    Bitsy,
Congratulations on your 25 successful years of marriage. Hubby and I just celebrated our 12th last Sunday.

In the good times, I am so happy to be married to my hubby because I wouldn't want to share the good times with anyone else.
In the bad times, I am so happy to be married to my hubby because I couldn't get through them with anyone else.

When you have a good marriage, you really have it all....

Congratulations! You are so right about having to look at your kids to know that 25 years have passed. It all blends together!

I'll second that - but beware of this : The years from 25 to 30 will pass before you know it ! (Just ask Leslie! ) So put them to good use !
Marit and I got married 32 years ago - and we still look as young as the day we got married - Weird - isn't it ?
