Any Nationally Board Certified Teachers??

I'm interested in pursuing National Board Certification and would like to get some tips from others who are NBCT Teachers.

How long did it take you to prepare?
What are some things that I should be doing to prepare?
What's the hardest thing about the whole process?

BTW, Not sure if this will help, but I'm hoping to receive Certification in Early Adolescence Science.

I thought about for a while, but the incentive was not there at the time. In my state and the state I am thinking of moving too, the certification did not mean much when I looked into it.

Things may have changed though. It has beena couple years since I looked into it.

They push this a bunch over here in NC. Of course, the state will pay for it- on the first attempt. They do give a substantial pay increase with it, if you make it. It is a lot of extra work, though, from what I've heard. I might do it ten years from now, if it is still around.

I'm currently working on it. In FL, the state will pay for most of it and it is a pretty good pay incentive once you have it.
