How sad!
so many young people just don't have the maturity to understand that the things we talk about might really happen -- much less happen to them.
Yesterday 2 boys were walking near the high school from the student parking lot to the school and decided the short walk was too long. They jumped on the trunk of a slow moving car on the road, then proceeded to lose their grip and they both fell to the concrete. The one boy was transported to a local hospital. The other caught his foot in the bumper and hit the concrete HARD. He was airlfted out and died this morning.
When do kids learn that we don't lecture them b/c we like to hear ourselves talk.??????

One of the saddest things about this is that it just happened in the nearby town less than 2 years ago. That young man is now a braindamaged quadripaligic.
It really is so sad. Makes you so frustrated as a parent - you want to be able to just be there with them every minute so this doesn't happen, but of course, we can't be.

What a tragedy! I hope that others learn from this experience, and that the other person recovers.
My youngest really gets tired of any warnings from us, thinking that we do not trust him. Some day he will be an awesome father and the  will go on.
