Character Counts has lots of materials across the age ranges. I've also noticed in the past 8 years or so, that the 'character' section at 'The Chalkboard', my main teacher's store, has increased by at least 100%.
I have been doing a lot of work around Grenada training teachers to incorporate Character building into their classroom while they teach (The Virtues Project). Someone who might not understand the concept completely asked me to run a week of one hour sessions with a group of kids at an educational summer program to "teach them virtues".
The 25 boys and girls will range in age from 7 to 17. They will also vary greatly in reading (or non-reading) abilities.
Here's the question.
Do any of you have any activities or games to suggest that I can do with the kids during the week. I would prefer to do games that require little to no reading or writing...my session does not have to be 'educational'. I haven't nailed down the curriculum but I'm pretty sure I'm going to focus on two groupings of virtues.
Days one and two
Self-discipline
Confidence
Assertiveness
Days three and four
Understanding
Tolerance
Unity
Respect
Forgiveness
Day five
Celebrating the virtues shown throughout the week
I have a few ideas but I'd love to hear any activities that we can do as one group....we can possibly separate by age if necessary for an activity.
I hope to hear from you all!
Cheers

It looks like that teaches a lot of important values/virtues. I am supportive of anything that encourages those for use to enhance a positive subject matter.
