Find some more work- practice makes perfect.
Hi - My name is Melissa & I teach school in Houston, Texas. This is my first year in 3rd grade, in the past I've taught 2nd grade. I was just curious what you have the kids do when they are done with their work. It seems like they are getting done faster now and always want to know what to do next.
Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Are the students completing their work in record time because they have achieved mastery of the objective or is the majority of the work sloppy, incorrect, or incomplete?
I teach fourth grade and we change classes so if students have an assignment to complete it has to be done before the end of the period. I walk the room and keep each group on task and help if needed. I always have more than enough planned so I can ease right into the next lesson or I have two or three additional quick activities I can move any speed demons into to keep everyone working.
My students always initiate new kids by telling them, "Don't ever tell Mrs. C. you are finished because she will remind you that students of history must be learning and practicing constantly."
