    Finally got the interview....

And will be recommended to the board in September to fill the position of K-8 Academic Coach. In other words I am going to be one unpopular SOB at the beginning. I will be doing PD, scheduling PD, working with teachers on growth Plans, mentoring, Curriculum Mapping.

Now I have to figure out what to do with all my teaching stuff, and how to tell the parents and kids now, that I will not be their teacher after September.

It is a bit scary knowing that I will be leaving the classroom.

This sounds like a great opportunity! Well done, Mark! Is this a stepping stone to administration?

Yep. I am working on my PhD in Ed leadership but will be able to get the admin. certificate before I finish the program.

Never thought this is what I would be doing. Sure is funny how life takes us in such different directions than what we thought would happen. With the way things are going it feels like something else is driving, and I am a sometimes unwilling passenger. This just feels like the way to go.

I knew things were going too well

When I posted I was recommended. After school I was told in passing that another couple applications came in and they would need to interview them. What the heck!!!! If you tell someone they have the job then they have the job. It was like taking candy from a little kid. Talk about feeling deflated.

Oh, well what happens happens I guess.

Life in academia frequently stinks. I wish it were otherwise. Oh how I wish it were otherwise!

All is not lost. Hopefully you will still get it. Assuming you still want it. Good luck.

I would not consider you the enemy, Mark. You could be a welcome resource, and I wish there were a comparative for Language and writing!

From my eyes, it would largely be in the demeanor and the atmosphere. I could be defensive if a forceful, negative presence took the approach that I stunk and noticed only negative points. For me, if I heard a supportive, positive voice having lots of good observations of what is already going on, and building on that to improve my performance in instruction, I would be fine with that. Having suggestions and helping me tweak would be most welcome.

Good luck with your future. Sorry for the way you are having this come about. It is nice to know where you stand, and someone goofed up in their handling of this.
