You could leave them out at night for the little elves that come and clean up your house... :P
I have come despise these things:
I'm sure the manufacturers had nothing terribly nefarious in mind. I'm sure it never occurred to them that these little fingerboards would be taken to school, or used somewhere other than a playroom. For some years now, I've had to remove them from some boy who, instead of doing what he is supposed to, is bouncing one of these around the desk. It is about as annoying as tapping a pencil, or worse.
I did look at the "Tech Deck" website- "Collect them all" it says. I believe if I kept all the ones I took away, I could in fact have them all- every one they ever made. The thing is, what would I do with them.....?

oops double post
LOL
For the life of me, I do not understand their appeal.
I have a HUGE collection of these. We're decorating and auctioning Christmas trees for charity, and I think we should make a "skater tree" and use the boards for decorations.
Know what they do when I take away the boards? They use their PENCILS. AARGH!!!!!

I can't believe that these are still so popular in the states. They came here and were over in a season... however table soccer is still really popular and has been since I was in high school. You know that annoying game where they push a coin to each other over the table? That does my head in I can't stand the noise of the coin on the table.
In my school, we have a steadily growing population of these Tony Hawk wannabes. This is a strange phenomena, as we have no skate park or other place they can indulge in such activities. Occasionally, we have a couple hit by cars (the road is usually the only nearby pavement). One was killed last year, and there has been some agitation to build such a place, to allow these guys to push the limits of Darwin's Law, I suppose. I can see somebody liking real skateboarding. This other is just an annoyance, pretty much.I can't believe that these are still so popular in the states.

The shoes are not special- but the hoodies, shaggy hair, that sounds familiar. Some of ours wear toboggans or their ball hats on backwards, and some of them wear pants that...well, look like tights. Every last one of them has an Ipod too, usually anywhere they can get away with it.Do all of yours wear the "skater gear" . . . dreary colored tennis shoes with laces untied & zippered hooodies?
