What!?! You participate in the pagan ritual??
We always give out microwave popcorn to trick or treaters. Usually, they say thanks, but this year, at least one kid in almost every group said, "Popcorn!"
Made me chuckle. :P

My mother says they used to sing this song when she was a child:Originally Posted by Bitsy Griffin

and little silver bells
These "c" letters are actually variations of ch sounds. We have two different sounds and letters* for ch (hard ch and soft ch) and this song helps you to learn when to say which one (and how to use chi-che grammar pattern)
*letters can not be seen on English keyboard
Bitsy, the microwave popcorn is a great idea! I am going to keep it in mind for next year. Maybe I'll even put it in students' Christmas gifts.
Why did I have never think of this? Our PTO frequently puts a bag in our mail boxes and it is a nice treat even if we bring it home to nuke and eat.
I love the pagan rituals I enjoyed in complete innocence as a child and encourage for children today.
In south Mississippi, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are always cool to warm temperatures and usually sunny--perfect holiday weather for the active child. Well, I take that back, often at Christmas it is raining.
You are always a source of thoughtful and helpful comments. Thanks!
Ha! What did you do you stinker? :POriginally Posted by TaterTot
BBB -- we've been giving out popcorn for years. It's a great alternative to all that SUGAR!!!!

Wish I could have celebrated too, but after last night (halloween night) it appears something is awry.
In years previous to this, I had swarms of the neighborhood kids come by. Last night? Six...in two groups. And I heard one group going by in the street in front of my house where a female voice cried "Molly...don't walk in that yard!!! A lot of people bypassed my place this year.
I had a disagreement with some people on the next street over and I had heard they were spreading some bad talk about me. Apparently the talk is true.
People can be so cruel and ignorant sometimes....

"Cowards die many times before their deaths. The valiant never taste of death but once."
William Shakespeare.
aw, that stinks.
We never have any trick or treaters. Lots of folks assume the preachers family isnt participating I think, and we also live waaaaaay out in the cow pasture, lol.
We are a preacher's family as well. Our area has a tradition of turning on the outdoor lights as a signal that one has candy to pass out and being welcome to ring the bell for a treat.Originally Posted by TaterTot
