    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BANANAS!

I know this was not the way you would have chosen to spend your birthday, but I know that your strong faith and supportive family are helping you through this.

In any case, your birthday is worth a thanksgiving even if celebrating is not the thing to do today. SO, let me take the opportunity to thank you for all the positive, kind posts you sprinkle so generously and thoughtfully here and on other forums. I love the touch of humor you add to so many of them.

    Happy Birthday, dear Bananas!

    Bless your heart, wag!

We were supposed to meet as a family for dinner on Saturday (as a surprise to celebrate, but we just ate a somber dinner together.

Son and hubby stopped me on Monday before heading to the visitation at wish me a happy birthday. They said that it was not really a time of celebrating, even though turning 50 was a big thing. Hubby and son presented me with a matching locket to earrings they had given me a few years ago. They had a pic of Mom and another of Dad put in the locket. What a beautiful idea!

They had gone into a drug store to use the machine to make the pics, and a man did his very best to start a fight with them. Hubby was only looking at the machine the woman was using to see if it would do the job, and the guy came out of no where and stuck his face within inches of hubby's and swearing up a storm about it being personal and hubby was to get out. Hubby told him it wasn't the day to be that way with him. Fortunately, the guy did not stop outside to take him on. 8O

Happy birthday, Bananas. I know it was a sad birthday, especially being the 50th.

The year I turned 50, we were out for dinner with family on my birthday . DH got the call that his dad had passed away during dinner. We knew it was going to happen so it wasn't a shock but the timing won't ever be forgotten. My birthday will always be a reminder just like Valentine's Day is always a reminder of my mom's passing. After a few years though, the pain is lessened and both days are times to reflect on the good memories rather than looking on it as the day they left us.
