Useless posts? For either of you? I won't buy that for one minute!

Okay, Bitsy and others! Did you ever think that Crookshanks might have played a big role in this book?
Also, had you thought that Snape would be on the side of good or evil? He kept you wondering all along! I loved the last few chapters with the pensieve and Dumbledore's explaining things to Harry. It took me a moment to make the transition to Harry being face down to having died and talking with Dumbledore.

Absolutely not....I was speculating on how I could utilize useless posts in usurping the ultimate number of posts. Are you saying my posts are useless? *humpf* Wink

As a former elementary teacher, would it surprise you to know that I have never read a single Harry Potter book? Not one.
I have seen the first four movies and thoroughly enjoyed most of them. I didn't particularly care for the fourth one, "Goblets of Fire." The ending seemed abrupt and too much was left unresolved.
I understand that one of the main characters has died in the 7th book, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." I also understand that the 7th book is the last book?
Surely the death of a major protagonist was not that of Harry Potter? I can't imagine how this would go over with a child.
I of course did not grow up with Harry Potter books. I grew up with the Hardy Boys and though Frank and Joe Hardy were in many a tight spot, neither of them ever died.
On the other hand, the Hardy Boys were not written by any single author. The series was written by the Stratemeyer Syndicate using an unknown number of ghost writers. (They also wrote the popular series, The Bobbsey Twins and Nancy Drew). Despite the popularity of the Hardy Boys, the syndicate also never realized $1 billion in gross revenue as has J.K. Rowling ... never mind the fact that there was more "bang for the buck" back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's.
I have heard that the death of Harry Potter would make perfect "literary sense" but Harry Potter is also a beloved children's character. Surely J.K. Rowling would not end the series this way?
The publishers of Harry Potter have sold 325 books worldwide printed in 65 languages. The series has also generated movies, video games, and toys for a gross profit of over $4 billion.
AND yet we still don't know what happened to Harry's grandparents -- either set! Or Luna - or did I fall asleep for that? Did Neville marry her and I missed it?I was starting to doze . . .
I did love Snape's story.
I've got to go back and reread the ending. I'd missed that BOTH Lupin and Tonks had died. AND in the scene when Harry rolled the stone over, why didn't Mad-Eye, Tonks, and Fred show up too?
When Harry, Ron, and Hermione were moving around with just the one Horcrux -- that was a bit draggy I thought.
I was completely surprised that Harry was the 7th horcrux. AND the snake. I felt like it was too dangerous for Voldemort to purposely use a living thing even if he didn't think like other people.
Interesting twist with the Bloody Baron and Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter. . . .
