Well, Tom, Camp Shelby has changed a little! I've been through it twice since Jan. I didn't see any tents, but there were a lot of the usual block buildings etc. ID is needed everywhere and check points are common place as they prepare the troups for overseas.
Many of the men are in hotels surrounding Hattiesburgh and I'm sure 'town' would amaze you now. I don't know what it looked like before, but just about every restaurant you would want is within a jog's length. I spent a few hours walking around a walking path surrounding a lake at the Convention/visitor's center. It was a very relaxing area with piped in music.
By the way....on the base there is another very nice lake....did you guys create it when you put the fire out?
Nice area, Hattiesburgh. I had my first experience with yellow rain (thick pollen). The people were very nice and the food at the non-chain restaurants was outstanding.
I'm hoping to get this blasted arm back in shape to golf there before his orders change!
