    Have You Seen my Patience?

Have you seen my patience? I have been looking for it high and low. It's not in our lost and found. It certainly is not anywhere in my classroom. It is not with my car keys or pajamas.

Earlier this week, Mr. Bananas lost sight of himself for about a glimpse of one minute. His salad plate fell to the floor in the living room. If I had been talking louder, he would not have had to look my way. He then would have been able to see where he was placing his plate. 8O  The real Mr. Bananas returned as soon as he cleaned up his mess and came back with more food, followed by a very interested dog. I held my tongue and let this go in one ear and out the other. Otherwise, it might have gone further than needed.

I really miss my patience while in the classroom these final weeks. Our Game-in-a-Bag activity has really gathered their interest, and they have had fun with this project. While it has been fun to see what they create for their game using the same items other groups have, it has stretched me to the max. As they go around doing the game rotation, about a third of my kids are self-appointed umpires/referees. Those who have such a very hard, hard, hard, hard time of knowing what they should be doing and being in control of are the ultimate experts as to what someone else is doing! 8O

Some are grumbling while I give the directions since they know that to do. Those are the ones who come to me with questions and aren't doing what was explained. As groups were playing the game rotation, I pulled two and had them sit down to work on the spelling packets seeing as they could not work more amicably with their partners. Tomorrow is Friday.

Sorry, I haven't seen your patience either.

I had a little bit left, and I lost it somewhere today during our kickball tournament. It disappeared sometime between the time the first kid did something stupid and the time they had the breakdown that led to the assistant principal suspending 5 kids and making them all have silent lunch.

Tomorrow is Friday. Summer is close.

Hi Bananas! I did see your patience. It was walking hand in hand with mine down route 20 toward the river. I'm not sure of their intentions, but I think even my patience couldn't stand me anymore. I heard a rumor that my patience will return on June 5th at around 3 p.m. I'll keep looking for it.

I found an excellent cure for loss of patience. All you have to do is lose your voice (as I have now for two days). It is amazing how the most uncontrollable students can manage to be quiet as mice so they can hear me for the entire class period. I sound awful and probably should've stayed home.

I haven't lost my patience yet, but I did catch it trying to sneak out the door today.
I've heard that four out of every three people have trouble with fractions.

Patience? I didnt think such a critter could coexist with 7th graders. A kid asked me the other day if I am bi-polar. lol. I think 7th graders would make good subjects for the psychology department. Better yet, I think I may head for the couch first!

Patience! Where are you? Here, Patience! Come back, Patience!

Where has it gone? to the pool hall? to the gym? I hope I can catch mine before it disappears forever!

Sorry! My patience threw up its hands in despair, dug a hole and crawled into it earlier this week when:

    * after three weeks of reminders, showing the students how to order books from the public library, and helping them find some from out limited resources at school, about a third of them did not have any when i was trying to show them how to write bibliography cards.

    * we were told there will definitely be a RIF

    * the outdoor ed that was cancelled due to unforseen problems with the camp was suddenly rescheduled for the end of the year forcing me to change our chapel, fiesta, and due date for the research report

    * the father of one of my students decided to go along (thats OK - we needed another male) but it leaves me with teaching the second grade AND taking them on a field trip to a large park I am not familiar with.

The above was just in the first couple of days of school this week. My patience decided that it was time to go. If it is not in the hole then it must be the third figure I see with yours and Kathy's.

Hmm...my patience is still with me. He sits on a stool in the corner and watches. He ain't much help......but I'm glad he's there.... I hope he stays put until June.

I have no idea where your patience is, but send me your address and I'll mail you some of my extra patience. I'm full of patience since I haven't worked a day since March 16!!!!!! (the broken leg) I go back May 30; we're done June 15, and then I retire. I've got patience to spare and if there was a way to gift it to you, I would.
