Hi Bill. I am curious. Is the John Edwards you referred to the same one that has a TV show and claims he communicates with the dead and if so was your (yea!) sincere or sarcastic?![]()
I bring greetings from North Carolina, home of Pepsi, the Carolina Tar Heels, Jesse Helms (cringe), John Edwards (yea!). The Hatteras Lighthouse, and the Alamance-Burlington School System, of which I am a part.
Currently I teach grade 6 science/math, but have taught everything from grade 3 (longest and worst year of my career, sadly) to Vocational Technical education. Have been in the classroom since 1980. Previous to that, I worked in TV news, was a journalist (briefly), and an EMT; served in the US Army Special Forces and Special Operations, retiring in 1997, at the rank of Major, with 5 years active duty and 18 years in the reserves.

Hey Bill --- good to see you!!!!! Do you think you can talk David into joining also? It would be nice to "see" him again -- I miss reading his posts! Glad you joined -- looking forward to sharing some good discussions. Leslie [aka Sunnie]

The Edwards I referred to is Senator Edwards, of North Carolina. I voted for the man and think he has been an EXCELLENT representative for us, as contrasted with years of embarassment provided by "Senator No," alias Jesse Helms. Mr. Helms has, in my estimation, portrayed us all (North Carolinians) as bumbling bufoons, stuck in the 19th century. Such is NOT the case, I assure you!
As to the John Edwards with the television show, I don't watch it so I cannot offer a decent opinion. I am skeptical, but then, I am skeptical about many things. As I said on this subject, on another chatboard, I think skepticism can be a good thing. Keeps us from jumping to conclusions or having them jump at us. But do this mean I totally discount the possibility of the ability that John Edwards claims to have? Not at all. I am just not yet convinved that Edwards truly has it.
Leslie (we used to call you Sunnie, right?), I have emailed David, inviting him to come here, pointing out how different this place is as opposed to Teachers' Net, but his coming here is something else I am skeptical about. He got torched pretty badly on T net and he isn't particularly eager to open himself up for such treatment again. My feeling is that he is not so likely to have another experience like that one, either here or even back at T net, but I don't think he is willing to chance that. Time will tell.

Thanks for clarifying that,Bill. I share your skepticism about the John Edwards I was eluding to. I too see healthy skepticism as an important quality.![]()
