Highs and Lows for the week

State testing is now officially over and our assembly is finished, broken down, and put away. I was on the committee for that, and even though creativity is not my forte, I do mean grunt work! Principal told me last night that some were going *bowling* after school. We had a good time at the bowling alley, although no one bowled.

Our school is RIFfing three teachers due to declining enrollment. Rumors are flying and students in the high school walked out for a portion of their school day yesterday.

Even though I have a bad headache, hubby is picking me up after yoga to go out for breakfast. Still need to eat and someone else might as well do the cooking and cleanup.

:x Too much work to accomplish in the hours available. I am home late each night and just plain tired.

One more week and then Easter Break!

Seems I had more lows than highs this week.

My grandson (3.5) who alternates weeks with his parents, is showing regressive behaviors. My heart just breaks for him.

    I have a horrible cold

My eighth grade class is pushing my buttons, my sixth grade class has become very chatty and do not seem to hear anything I say even when quiet.

My seventh grade class is working on a project in a vey orgnized creative way.

My school blog was reported as "awesome" and linked on the district page. (It's not really, but our schools are not always on top of the technology pyramid)

Awww, wag! I know the feeling. I started to post this last weekend, but ended up just deleting it as I didn't want to seem like such a negative person sitting on my pity pot.

Although this week was a wee bit better than the last week, hubby and I seem to have all four burners simmering and we are watching to see if any boil over.

Sorry to hear about grandson. Life is tough for them, and the rest, in those situations. Hope he gets on a different plane soon. Get your rest this weekend!

It's just that time of the year, isn't it? Staff hang on by a thread or two, and kids are so tested out and climbing the walls, etc. One more week until break!

Re: Highs and Lows for the week

I finished the text on small hydro-power plants and got a new text to translate. It is a documentary about bears.
Time codes are all mixed-up. It will take time to sort them out.

It was raining all week and I felt like everything is so boring.
We had a lovely school performance on Wednesday and I don't work Thursdays, so I didn’t have to plan as many classes as usual.
:? I have to do a lot of planning for next week classes... we are starting new units.

 I am disappointed by some of my students’ behavior. It seems that whenever someone earns an A, they think it means they should disrupt the whole next class period by talking over me.

The ecology project is moving at a snail’s pace. I decided not to refrain from it even if it means that everybody gets Fs on it (two groups are showing significant progress, though). They still keep whining about it (especially those mentioned above who get As otherwise).

That class that I was worried about during spring break has returned to its old, nice state! I didn't even have to struggle to get them back. I just walked in and said that I had read their letters, and that I appreciated what they wrote and felt confident that we could turn this ship around. This was a big ole white lie, but the week went really well! I implimented a new discipline plan, but didn't have to discipline anyone all week! The three leaders have quieted down, one has turned around and become positive again, and the kids are back on task! WOO HOO!!!!

As if the gods want to make sure things stay balanced, another class that is usually good suddenly became demons on Friday. Hopefully that was just a one-day demonic outburst.

I know I'm going to be hired back for next year!

I don't know if I want to stay. There is a part of me that really thinks I shouldn't be teaching remedial reading, and I'm pretty sure they are going to want me to teach that again next year. I'm thinking that I'll only stay if they offer me at least one or two regular English classes.

I'm getting some extra help from central office. It is obvious that they are trying to give me more support, which I really appreciate.

 I'm new to this town (we moved here in August). Lately I'm feeling really lonely. We really haven't made friends, and I've been so stressed with work that I haven't gotten involved in any activities. This weekend my husband is gone, and I'm feeling a little blue. I miss my old town and my old job and my old friends.

    One week until spring break.

I have 100 kids with 3-piece writing portfolios due on the Friday before spring break.

I planted 50 tomato seeds, cleaned my flower beds, planted onion sets, and cleared off the garden today.

My weeping willow tree died. It was just a few years old and the drought killed it last year. I hoped it would recover.

I found some really nice spring/summer work-appropriate clothes last night.

I got my feelings hurt at work this week and cried in front of my first class.

We played a food chain card game during planning Friday--teachers played to figure out the game--and it was hilarious. Middle school teachers are as bad as middle school kids. We laughed every time someone asked for "nuts".

It was Spring Break this past week and I spent a lot of time with my son. He's a fun guy!

It rained almost every day of Spring Break.

MrBunny finally made a decision about the new trailer-puller. After looking at about a zillion different cars/suvs, putting a down payment on one and then changing his mind (that's a whole 'nother story!), he finally made a decision to buy a Pathfinder. We took possession of it on Tuesday.

I got my car back from the shop from when I had my accident two weeks ago. I'm so glad to be driving my own car and NOT the Chevy Cobalt (which, oddly, was white).

I feel rested rejuvenated and ready to go back to work on Monday.
If you can't be kind, at least be vague.

It is about that text on bears. Time codes in the script and on the TV program do not match*, so it will not go easy like the program on chimps, where all I had to do is translate the text and leave the time codes in front of sentences.
*the program has three 50-minute parts with "headings" ("welcome to our show" etc) while the script is in 5 parts intended for 5 shorter episodes

Just yesterday they came and chopped down the tree just below my window. I remember they said that they will chop old dead trees around the building. It just didn't go to flower this year like in the years past
