Ouch! That viral stuff is tough to fight. Good luck to all of you as he continues to get better!!!!
Sorry I didn't post yesterday. Things got crazy after the dr. appt...had to get medicine, go to the new house etc, etc....
Anyways, here is the update I posted in email to everyone last night.
Hi everyone,
Well, Tony had his dr. appt. today and I have to say I came away encouraged. The dr. seems to think that whatever Tony has is viral. I actually got on the computer after Tony's first dr. appt and did some research. It is the teacher in me. Didn't want to wait around for a dr. to diagnose, darn it. I was going to figure it out on my own - medical degree or no medical degree. The first thing I came across was something called Infectious Arthritis. When the dr. said today that he thought it was viral, I piped up and said, "something like infectious arthritis." He agreed. Don't really know why Tony's body reacts this way to a virus but it does. All of his bloodwork came back normal. His uric acid level was normal which rules out gout. The big thing that came back negative was his ANA tests. An ANA test is:
An antinuclear antibody (ANA) test measures the amount and pattern of abnormal antibody that work against the body's tissues (autoantibody). Everyone has a small amount of autoantibody, but about 5% of people have a larger amount. About half of these 5% have an autoimmune disease, such as systemic lupus erythematosus or rheumatoid arthritis.
So, that was good news! They did draw blood today to check for Rheumatoid Arthritis although the dr. said that if he had that, the ANA test probably would have come back positive.
Although I was encouraged today, it was hard for Tony to get excited because he is still in so much pain. Right now he is sitting in his recliner. He has been there since about five thirty because he can't get up. The dr. changed his medication a bit and we're hoping that will help some. Right now, it is just something he has to get through. Easier said than done. The dr. said it could last three more weeks or so. Tough news for Tony to swallow.
I am going to begin praying that God will deliver Tony of this soon. Like in a few days. Will you please pray that with me? Of course I want Gods will to be done but my poor husband is just so tired of this pain. And we are so ready to have our normal life back.
Thanks for everything and thanks for praying!
Kelli
And thank you all for praying too. I will never be able to tell you how much your well wishes, concern and prayers mean to me. I'm so glad I meandered over here!
Love,
Kelli

Is it safe to assume MS has been ruled out? Not that I'm a doctor or anything. Just curious.
I hope he gets to feeling better real soon.

I'm sure it's a relief just to start to get some answers. There's nothing more discouraging to KNOW there is a problem yet not be able to get anything done about it.
I'll keep your husband and your family in my prayers.

I married a Tony too! Best wishes for you, Tony and Maddie. You are all in my prayers.

Kelli,
Glad to hear that the nastiest possibilities have been pretty much ruled out. I'll be praying that your hubs is feeling 100 percent again very soon!

I am so sorry that his pain is continuing. What a lot of stress...for him and you all! How are you doing, Kelli?
