    I can't breathe!

my allergies are acting up -- I woke up at two a.m. Sat morning with a scratchy throat and stuffy nose. I actually feel better now -- but now I can't breathe! *sigh*

It's driving my husband nuts trying to figure out what caused it. If I could breathe, I'd laugh at him.

Boy, this sounds familiar. My problems are in the spring and fall. I had surgery on my nose some years ago because I was having repeated sinus infections that were giving me pneumonia- and this during a time of the year when you shouldn't get sick. Nowadays at least I can take some over-the-counter stuff and open things up- breathing is easier. Still, it is a bit uncomfortable.

I think that is sweet that he is trying to figure it out. Just so he doesn't come to the conclusion that you are allergic to him! You see, there ARE advantages to living in the midwest.

    Me too!
I'm pretty sure it's because I'm back at school in an old, dusty, moldy building. Maintenance swears our air is clean and clear, but I’m just as sure we have a sick building.

I was sick the first week of school. I coughed the WHOLE time. Then I had an alternating stuffy/runny nose.

We have a LOT of humidity in our school, and I think we have mold/mildew growing in the air conditioning ducts. I'm very allergic to mold & mildew. While I'm sick at school, I'm better on weekends when I'm at home!

Maybe I'm just allergic to school.

I hope your allergies clear up soon Bitsy, and the rest of you. And I certainly hope that it isn't due to mildew or anything else disgusting like that.

I have found that my allergies flare up before we are due for a heavy rainfall. I have NO idea why this would be, but DH seems to have the same problem. Not a bad weather forecaster, the old allergies.

    Take care all,

Hi Bitsy -- My son is allergic to grasses and trees -- so his allergies are seasonal -- always spring and sometimes fall too. He's pretty bad off March through May. Some falls he has no problems and others he's as bad as in the spring -- we can't figure out what makes the difference from year to year. So far this year, no problems but it could still happen in Sept.

    Dust and dust mites

    Bitsy,
This is always the worst time of year for my son. He is allergic to dust and dust mites. This is their mating season. He is going through shots, but even after 3 years, he is doing a lot of sniffling right now. However, compared to what he used to be like, this is an improvement!

I am lucky, I used to have chronic sinus infections when I worked at the hospital ( part-time!!!), now in a relatively new school, I am so much better! Now I get a cold and it remains a cold.

Have you tried Claritan? It is non-drowsy and works.
