    I got my snow day, but . . .

I finally got that snow day I so desperately wanted. I'd planned on sleeping in and then going to work to do things in my classroom. At 8:30, DH called to check the snow situation and tell me he was coming home. There was no snow here. There was no snow where he was.

About an hour and a half later, he called to tell me he'd wrecked his Jeep. He was driving a curvy country road, hit black ice, fishtailed, overcorrected, and took out someone's fence.

He had to flag someone down--and he said a lot of cars just passed right by. Someone finally picked him up and took him to a convenience store to call. (He has no cell phone & you can't get a signal there anyway.)

My parents happened to be nearby at my dad's dialysis treatment, so I called the clinic and told Mom. Dad was about finished by that time, so they found DH and are bringing him home. DH is sore and nervous, but not hurt. The Jeep is missing a bumper and a headlight. It had to be towed. The fence seemed to fare the worst.

DH and I get to make a trip to the insurance company this afternoon. Should be interesting. He's probably totaled the Jeep . . . it's a 1995 with 165,000 miles.

Ah, well. It's just a vehicle. At least nobody was hurt.

DH is getting more sore by the minute, but no bruises or scratches. So far everything is going smootly with everything. The insurance is filed. The body guy is picking it up tomorrow. The claims adjustor is calling us in a few days. The police report will be ready on Wednesday.

Those would be fence planks inbedded in the side.

Since he is not hurt you have our permission to smack him for ruining your snow day. Unplanned vacations are not something to mess with.
