Just thought I would jump in and introduce myself. I'm glad to see a teacher message board that has some activity and look forward to participating here.
I'm Monica and I teach in a small rural school in Alberta, Canada. My teaching load for 2005-06 includes an integrated, multi-grade Mathematics and Science 7-8 class, a Religion-Advisory class for grade 7s, all grade 10-12 mathematics courses that are offered at our school, a course that is a mixture of Information Processing (computer), Career Transitions and Career and Life Management and then we do a quarter exploratory program in which I will be sharing my passions about Life Learning Choices (careers), Scrapbooking, FLASH Animation and Basic Woodworking. It seems like a load from hell when written this way but it is a great job with a lot of great courses and mostly small classes.
I have been teaching for 13 years at two different schools. I've been at my present school for 7 years. In my spare time, I coach Senior Girls Basketball (although this year I'm pretty sure I'm going to shift down to Junior Girls) and parent my son, who is a really great kid and attends the same school that I teach at - he is 6.5 and in a K-1 transition program.
I think that is long enough. I'm hoping that I have figured out how to make my signature work!

Everyone here is gruntled... --Michael Scott (from The Office)
Our teachers start back on August 29 and the students come August 31 so we still have about a week and a half. I'm in full swing starting to get things set up because I am revamping the way that I teach in most of my classes. Our school division made the switch from Junior Highs to Middle Schools a couple of years back and the staff at our school really bought into the Middle School Philosophy so we have been making some exciting changes... but it does require some extra work.

Just READING your post wore me out! My colleagues wonder how I can do all I do without keeling over.
You, my friend, have definately shown me up.
Welcome to TF. We're glad you're here!
I've heard that four out of every three people have trouble with fractions.
