    I've completely missed the mark

Well, not completely -- but enough. I got my first 80 in a grad course. My research topic was (ahem) "How do Advanced Placement courses influence the curriculum at lower levels?"

After tons of work and revisions, I changed it to “What curricular changes have been made in prerequisite courses to prepare students to take AP courses?” but I'm still not finding enough material.

OK, is it just to plain to say, "What are the benefits and consequences of an AP program?" maybe for students or the school itself? Does that delve specifically into a topic enough without narrowing it so much that it's untraceable.

I think I can find material on this, but my confidence is not real high right now. I'm very frustrated. I need to go to sleep because we are going on a field trip tomorrow and here I am working on this because my next project is due next Thursday. Well, that's time that I know will go fast.

"What are the benefits and consequences of offering college level classes for schools?"

It sounds a little broader than the other, so it may be easier to find the information you need. I don't suppose it will do any good to run it by the instructor?

My first thought was to sleep on it when I read this post last night. Also, follow wag's suggestion.

I had such a block in writing my Foundations of Educational Philosophy papers. Even took an incomplete as I had this during the height of IEP season and it was the year of the no-show-no-call parents. Stress galore.

I met with my teacher for suggestions and to talk through some of my obstacles.

Good luck. I know you can do it.

Ummm, if I didn't answer my email, I would be in trouble with that being a part of my job. How does she do this? Doesn't she have office hours?

For my Online work, the prof has 48 hours to answer an e-mail. If no e-mail, call.

You should run this by your professor.

How long is this paper supposed to me. Doing a compare and contrast might be a bit large. You might choose to look at one or the other. Unless, of course, you are supposed to look at the fors and against.

I am sure I am no help, I am beating my head against the wall trying to get an understanding of Social Systems Theory, for a breadth of knowledge paper.

I once took a correspondence course in Saudi Arabia. The university I was working with offered on-line courses and correspondence courses to assist teachers working abroad in maintaining their certification.

I sent in five different assignments and received five acknowledgements via snail mail that the assignments had been received.

I didn't get any grades. I didn't get any feedback.

I mailed a letter requesting grades and feedback and explained that it was difficult to take a correspondenc eclass if I didn't know what the instructor thought about work that I had previously submitted.

After two weeks I got a letter from the secretary. The secretary told me that she had given my letter to the professor but that the professor had professed himself to be much too busy to respond at this time.

Since I was taking the class just for the pleasure of learning, (having come from Texas with one of the old "life" certifications that only expire after I drop dead,) I dropped out of the course.

Two months later I got a query from the professor. What was wrong? Why had I stopped doing assignments?

Having decided that the professor was clueless, I didn't bother answering him.
