Has anyone seen the new "crossworks" we are supposed to be alligning our curriculum to? Nothing like being in limbo between the 1997 Learning Results, the Enhanced Grade Level Expectations, the New Revised Learning Results and now "Crosswalks." What next? Just when we did all the work to put local assessments in place we are told "Nope. don't need to do those now."
Of course. my district also does the DRA reading assessment for all kids, but you are not allowed to test above grade level. I have 8th graders who scored 8th grade reading level last year (while they were in 7th grade), which is the ceiling of the test. But, I still have to test them 3 times again this year with an 8th grade text. When I asked why the answer was, "You'll get more information about their reading abilities." I fail to see how.
I'm getting a little frustrated with all of this, how 'bout you?
