    Meltdown

    AAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Thanks, I feel much better now. This warm weather is driving the kids nuts. They're taking me with them. One class just couldn't keep it together, so I had to set the timer and they could not talk to anyone about anything during that time. I wouldn't even let them talk to me. I wrote them notes on post-its.

We've had irate parents and the superintendent here this morning.

    Good times.

    How long until spring break?

We get a week off in October and two weeks at Christmas. We get MLK day, but that's it until the first week of April. We missed 10 snow days in January/February, which is the only thing that's kept us sane.

I remember those days all too well. I've always thought school should be year round with a week off every 8 weeks and extra time in the summer and at the holidays. I think everyone would stay saner that way!!

Three weeks! Eeks! Ours starts on Friday April 6th (Easter is on Sunday 8th). But our semester also started quite late (mishmash of joining the various January holidays into one big break)

Luckily we have something called Day of Our School* next Wednesday (my busiest day of the week), so I essentially get two days off (I don't work Thursdays), and I carefully arranged that we finish our units tomorrow or on Monday, so these 2-3 weeks will be just testing and quizzing for the midterm grades (I already prepared all the questions so I can relax about prepping time)

*there will be a performance at noon, and I am not a part of the preparing committee; there will be no classes that day.

You missed 10 days for snow and don't have to make them up? Wow, must be nice. We missed five days of school this year and have to make up three. Teachers will be going to school on one Saturday, and the kids' year has been extended three days.

Oh, we make them up! We made up one on President's Day, and we tacked the rest on to the end of the school year. We were scheduled to get out May 17, but we're getting out in June now.

Our students actually go more than the required number of minutes per day as well, so they don't miss as much instructional time with the snow days.

Ten days is average for us. We've missed as many as 26.
