I'm a NC math/science teacher. I've taught grades 5-12 in schools ranging from private to inner city. I'm currently teaching algebra and earth science.
Teaching is a second career for me. In my first career, I helped churches either get a preschool/children's program started or helped them hone their current program.
We seem to like to move -- husbands job. I'm a native Houstonian, then we moved to Marietta GA. Now we are in Winston-Salem.
I have a son at UNC-Chapel Hill -- sophomore -- and a high school senior who will be attending Appalachian State University next year.
I've had a big physical challenge this winter. I fell on a field trip and broke my right wrist pretty badly -- missed three weeks of school. recovery will take much longer than I thought. Kids are wonderful and so very encouraging. Every day at least one student tells me how much better my left handwriting is getting!
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and sharing ideas!

Greetings from Guilford County, near Greensboro (the thriving metropolis of Browns Summit); you sound like someone after my own heart. I got my M Ed from Chapel Hill. I, too, teach math and science.
Hope we can share some wit and wisdom on teacher focus!!!
